There will be four
quizzes given at random. They
will cover the reading assignments. Each
one counts as 5% of your grade and they will not be made up. This is a good reason to attend class. If you must be absent due to emergency or
illness, please contact and notify me before the class and I will work with
you.
The Projects will follow the progression of the lecture
material. They will include: telling a
story with still images, creating an environment with sound, filming a
documentary or narrative piece using two different editing styles, designing
and shooting an action sequence, using different production techniques to shoot
a dialogue scene, adding music and special effects, and combining previous
project elements to produce a completed final presentation.
Viewing sessions will be accompanied by (I hope) rigorous
and spirited group critiques.
You will be invited to contribute to the class blog at http://www.simclass.blogspot.com. You are not required to post at this site
but doing so will help the participation component of your grade.
Late Work
Late work will be accepted, but will be counted as one grade
lower. All work must be turned in by
the last day of class at the latest in order to receive any or at least some credit.
Academic Honesty
and Integrity
You will work on your own and will also collaborate with
others on certain projects. Students are
held responsible for knowing and observing the University’s Academic Integrity
Policy. Please refer to: http://www.ut.edu/provost for more
information about expectation related to doing your own work.
